Stop Bullying Bullying-10 number Myths Exposed
Too much time bully victims and society in general make the decisions that were poorly informed on the basis of the many myths that intimidation, lies, and half-truths on this serious social problem. Until we understand and expose these myths, as lies and half truths that are actually going to continue to support and empower the bully and a thug culture in our society.
10 number Bullying Myths Exposed
Myth # 1: Bullying is just a normal part of the experience of growing up!
Are you kidding! How can you live with constant fear of psychological abuse and physical assault as a normal part of growing? Bullying is not "the behavior social normal 'or acceptable and should not be ignored or tolerated under any circumstances!
Myth # 2: Ask for help or simply someone will tell to make the problem even worse!
As difficult as asking for help can seem to do at the time, research has shown that bullying stops only when caring adults (parents, relatives, friends) or adults in authority (teachers, police) and colleagues (peers) are involved.
Myth # 3: Do not be a coward. You need to be up to the bully and hit them back!
Hmmm, I wonder how many of us, especially with children are being harassed, are guilty of this! Given the fact that in most situations the attacker is bigger and stronger, or have a band with him / Her, there is great risk that fighting will make things even worse and can result in serious injury to the person intimidated. Research has shown that learning to live with intimidation does most difficult children. However, it can cause low self esteem and low self-esteem in children harassed.
Myth # 4: Bullying only occurs in the school and the education system agree with him!
Flash News! Harassment occurs not only at school. This type of harassment is almost everywhere people, both children and adults gather to learn, play or work.
Myth # 5: Some people are just born other bully! Just the way it is!
A pretty silly argument when you stop to think about it. How sweet newborn baby lying in crib be labeled as a bully future? Bullying is a behavior that is learned through life experience and observations. Therefore, this behavior can be modified or ignorant.
Myth # 6: Some people deserve to be bullied!
It surprises me that in this day and age there are people, children and adults, who actually believe this! Granted we have all known people who for various reasons can "rub the wrong way," not yet deserve to be verbally or physically damaged in some way.
Myth # 7: The words will never hurt you!
Have you ever heard of Scars emotional? Yes, words alone do not result in injuries or broken bones that heal with time. The emotional scars can last a lifetime, affecting the person addressed for years and years after the incidence of bullying. This makes it more dangerous verbal intimidation to some victims of physical abuse.
Myth # 8: There was only kidding!
This simple statement can be one of the methods used by aggressors to justify their actions. Teasing with the intent to harm or injure the other party is considered bullying! This is a very different kind of mockery of "good character" jokes among friends and colleagues, when all is being done in fun, and both sides realize this.
Myth # 9: Bullying is a form of conflict!
Wrong! Bullying is about the misuse of power that a person has over another and is usually repeated over time. The conflict is a disagreement or a fight between individuals or groups not based on an imbalance of power between the parties. Resolution of conflicts may involve each party meeting in the middle of road and accepting some blame for the incident and make things work to solve the problem. In bullying, no "guilt shared" between the aggressor and the target. Bullying is bad, and no one deserves this treatment!
Myth # 10: Most people who observe bullying do not want to deal to stop!
Good news! There are a lot of research to support the fact that most people do not approve bullying and would try to stop him. The problem is that the average person lacks the knowledge and strategies needed to solve a bullying situation. In some cases this lack of training can lead to ignore the bullying incident, not knowing what to do, or the fear of doing or saying bad things that could turn the assailant on his / hers. This is where anti-bullying training programs in schools for children and in the workplace for adults are increasingly essential.
There is no reason why, as a father or a victim of bullying, you should not be trained to protect your child or yourself against the myths of bullying.
