460 or 428?

I have just builting my first Ford drag car, a 1967 Fairlane 2 door hard top. The body id done. Fiberglass finders, hood, doors, bumpers, trunk lid. Frame is done. Sub frame, roll cage, 4.11 9″ ladder bar rear with coils. Now I need engine input. I have a 80’s 460 and a 1966 428. Hitch can I get the most horse power and torque from?

That’s an easy one–the 428. the 460’s of the 1980’s were nothing but a low compression, fuel eating anchor that were only used in land yatchs and 3/4- 1 ton trucks. It would take too much work to get it to turn good times (also the heads are known to crack). You would have to spend about $4300 in head work just to get the heads to match in flow. let alone take a couple hundred thousands off the heads to raise compression (unless your using a blower), then have a intake manifold machined. . The 428 is a better base motor to start with and easier to get more power out of,

Many of us throughout the U.S. this is the recent freezing and well below freezing temperatures depending on where in the country of our apartment is wonderful.

There are some precautions to consider around his apartment when the temperatures outside dip in and below the range freezing.

1) If you have plants on your porch, covered. You can use a sheet, an old blanket, some old shirts, or anything you can get your hands on. Just remember that plants are people too … well maybe not exactly … but they live, breathe, eat, and can freeze to death too.

2) Keep the heater at a reasonable temperature and use blankets or warm clothing to help keep warm. Blasting the heater will run until his electricity bill soon. Keep it reasonable adjustment layer … is hot and your invoice will be happy. OH! Wear socks or house shoes too … makes a big difference.

3) Make sure your curtains are closed when the sun is down. They can help the heat stay inside the apartment. Open when you quit the sun for the sun to shine and add a little natural warmth. It's the old "geo-thermal radiation" thing or something.

4) Drip, drip, drip. Please let your faucet drip during the night to keep your pipes from bursting. Busted pipes can cause all sorts of problems for you and your neighbors. This is a true "not good" situation.

5) Do not forget that your pet may need a little more heat too. Most of them have skin, but in many cases … the skins just is not enough. If you have a yard with a dog or cat outside, make sure they are in and care. Keep animals cages away from windows or drafty areas to avoid the cold. The quake also, so if you see your pet shaking … find a way to help pets … some more or throw a blanket over them.

6) space heaters are very little items, but if not used well can be a fire hazard throughout the apartment. Be sure to check with you apartment manager to see if they are allowed and only use space heaters in the right places and so adequate. Keep them away from curtains, blankets, or anything else that can go up in flames. Want to be hot, but the last thing you and your neighbors want to … is a an apartment fire.

Before you know it, frost will be more and we'll be playing outside in the sun. Just take precautions and everything will be easy well. This may be one end of the season, but is a very sincere and useful one. So be careful and attentive in the winter to freeze!
